I’ve just cut my tongue by licking the lid of a tin of soup I just pulled off. What a tit

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009Not much of an update, playing of Dwarf Fortress has resumed since Jen has returned to her educating. I thought I’d get around to sorting out all my maps of the fortress onto the internet so I’ve added them to the map archive (Handy website it has to be said)
So you can find maps of the adventures of Okirrakus here
I’ll try post at least one yearly map so you can see a clear progression, something I’ve failed to do so far. I’ll also update when something goes horribly wrong, for instance the potential unleashing of water onto a magma pipe. I haven’t had much experience with magma but from what I understand it should just lead to a shitload of deadly steam and once everythings calmed down, I should have a layer of obsidian sealing the top of the pipe to keep me safe and allow expansion into the chamber (lol) Obsidian would also give me access to an easy material to make some short swords with. Plus its very pretty
I’ve borrowed the latest Armoured Core game (For Answer) from work so I’ll let you know my thoughts on it here, I haven’t played an AC game in years so should be a nice suprise I’m hoping. Be a change from Steel Batallion at least
Strike the Earth!
Wednesday, January 14th, 2009I’ve succumbed to Dwarf Fortress once again ^_^
After waiting ages for the new version (They grow hair and if they break a bone it can pierce through their skin. That and arrows will no longer take out both lungs, the brain and 2 fingers at once \o/) I’ve decided to get into the habit of how it all works now I’ve taken a step back from WoW. I spent 11 hours fishing in Dalaran fountain to get the achievement, and all I got was a coin that when I right clicked it said either heads or tails. It kind of pointed out how much time I was wasting in the game. I don’t plan on leaving it altogether, but I’m not going to invest as much time into it
Anyhow! Back to DF, so yeah I’ve only been playing it about 30 minutes, which in DF time is nothing (In WoW time thats nothing either -_-) but already one of my hunting dogs has died and my one war dog has dog fucked rear legs. Little did I know my ranger thought it’d be funny to go beat up a cougar on his first day on the job after bashing some hoary marmots. Hes fine I think, the dogs aren’t
Oh no actually, yeah the rangers knackered his upper torso and is now restin. He’ll probably die now as I’ve kinda messed up and forgot to make a bucket with the little wood I brought with me. Injured dwarves need water brought to them and that requires said bucket
To further confound this, after making the only wood into 3 beds (2 of which I didn’t strictly need) I’ve discovered my dwarves have managed to lose the coal I brought with me to make an axe to get me some more wood. So now without any wood to make into charcoal to fire my furnace, I’m without any means of acquiring any wood until a trader comes, so I could be going for at elast 2 years without wood which is an absolute disaster
Welcome back to Dwarf Fortress Benny…
