Mr Danny

Saturday, July 21st, 2007

Theres been this seagull I’ve noticed for many many moons now, a seagull that didn’t have a name until tonight. This seagull was so memorable because it had a damaged wing and couldn’t fly, so I’ve only ever seen it walking around Whitehaven and it never flew off if anyone came near it, it would just run away

Danny as I’ve come to name it, was sitting on my road upto my flat about 3 days ago, just sitting not moving. I never thought anything of it. Anyhow a few hours later I returned home with some bread for munch and it was still there, so I tore a bit off and threw it over so it could eat but it didn’t take anything Alas I went back upto the flat and then out to work later on. When me and Simon returned later that night though we came home to find it lying dead in the middle of the road where we’d last seen it

And there hes lay for 2 or 3 days, I can’t remember how long. Somebody moved him onto the side of the road so he woudln’t get ran over but hes basically been left there to rot

Now given my past experience with a seagull last week, and knowing this one for so long, I felt pretty bad about just leaving him there. So I took action. I went to Tesco’s to ask the security guard (I know him) for a box to go bury this seagull in. I don’t know whether to be thankful people don’t question my actions anymore or concerned as he happily went and got me a box that had once contained “Tesco Muesli” Oh and I pinched a newspaper from the paper recycling bin to handle Danny

To prove I’m not just making this shit up, theres a video. Its all in there

RIP Danny, this is for not ringing the RSPCA or whatever that bird one is. On the note of seagulls as well

Oh and I’m just going into town briefly to take some pictures of the people queuing for Harry Potter, brb

So I sit here now, its an hour and 10 minutes later and I now own a Harry Potter book, its all Joe’s fault. he found me and then some guy gave us some quality potato wedge and the rest as they say is history

Mr Seagull :(

My brother gave me a lift back home from work today so he could pick up Guitar Hero, it was like any other trip back home. He was talking to me about things, I was talking to him about things, we we’re laughing, joking, talking about girls, talking about games, watching the seagull standing in the middle of the road, chuckling at it not moving out of the way of the car very fast, watching as it turned to look me in the eye, listening to the PHUD noise

IT DIDN’T MOVE :E No no, instead it turns and looks me in the face like it knew what was going to happen and that it was asking me for help and I watched as it just went under the view of the bonnet before I heard the phud and knew what had happened

A seagull was murdered beneath my very feet on the floor of the carpet. Well, I say murdered. Apparently when my brother went back to his the bird had scraped itself onto the pavement where Simon couldn’t put it out its misery (He’d saw it flapping around on the road, he’d hit it in the head pretty hard but not hard enough to kill it somehow, normally I’d tell him it was a horrible idea, but I felt it was the right thing to do)

I was proper in shock, just staring out the window job. I felt dirty :(

I’m sorry seagull, had we swerved to miss you, we would have crashed and maybe died ourselves. I’m sorry you had to sacrifice yourself for the well being of me. I will forever remember you

As such, I’ve specially commisioned the below piece, depicting Mr Seagulls final moments

Captain Boredom Here

I’ve gotta say like, I’m incredibly bored

I’ve had a few hours before work and I’ve done nothing of worth. I think I’ve become bored of the internet :( Not having it for 5 weeks made me cope without it and now I just can’t be bothered with it. Nothing happens on Myspace and I’ve no incentive to go browsing for new people to talk to. So instead, I’ve been listening to Hot Butter’s Popcorn after Simon remembered what the song was called when I heard it on TV. In fact its on repeat as I can’t be arsed putting anything else on. Although I think I’ll go look for that commodore 64 song I came across ages ago courtesy of McGuirk. There we go, suprising how much of a difference this subwoofer makes to songs I used to listen to before I had it

Though saying that I should be tidying up the flat, plumbers coming round in about an hour to fix the elephant tap and we’ve had an electrician around measuring up our extractor fan in the kitchen to fit a new one at some point. Still no word on our cupboard door though

Yesterday I started learning Wire in Garrys Mod, it lets you do things that you previously couldn’t, essentially giving you a way to construct electric circuits to power things or do things you weren’t normally able to. Its quite clever really. Complex, but clever. Having watched a tutorial on making a timer that sets off an explosion, I worked on making the whole thing smaller. Small enough to fit on the back of a disc of explosive which I was fairly impressed with. Although now all the other tutorials look extremely complex and its putting me off

My faith in Vista is running at an all time low at the minute too, its reduced the playable games I own by about half. Sure half of them are shitty titles that I got preowned at Gamestation for the sake of saying I owned them but I do want to play them. Aquarium for example, Gangsters won’t install as won’t Thief 2 or Startopia and even Farenheit refuses. Although I’m led to believe by a Google search that I can install it by copying the DVD’s contents onto my putay and replacing the MSI file but I shouldn’t have to. As soon as I’ve figured out Vista’s partition system I’m installing XP and using that for gaming I think. For the sake of things working. Although theres a point, if I install a game in Vista, will I have to reinstall it in XP for it to recognise its actually there :/ Apparently not, only games that require their own DLL’s (Quite a few if I remember correctly) need reinstalling, but doing so over the current directory will make it work

And on that note I’m leaving this for today, I’m going to eat and then get ready for work, I’m through at sunny Egremont today and theres no buses home so not too sure what I’m going to do tbh :E

Oh and Jen’s gone to Bavaria and now I have noone to talk to :(

Catch Up \o/

Here I am then :)

I’m all moved in, everythings here, sat through a sunset and now I have the internet. Its perfect :D Minus the elephant sounding tap in the bath, and my extremely empty bank account, everythings good. I’ve got a lot to write about on here, if I can be arsed or not is a totally different thing

For the first week or so me and Simon we’re sleeping in sleeping bags on mattress’s that our boss had given us until my bed eventually arrived, Simon’s finally came a couple of days ago. During this time Jen had came up for the Maritime Festival so we put my pirate flag outside on the balcony to get in the spirit of things. It lasted till the last day of the festival before it was stolen by someone. Fair play to them like, I’m gutted but they did climb 2 storeys to get the bastard down. I bought myself a chest to put my clothes in too, fairly swank and was reasonably cheap ^_^

Managed to spend £70 in the HMV sale with Jen too, got all the Die Hards, all the Aliens, both Men In Black movies, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, both Ice Ages, Aliens versus Predator and Labrynth. Oh and a book on Johnny Depp and 3 posters to adorn my walls when I can get around to sorting them out. Ventured into the Rum Story too, they had some nice rope and sail material from the roof that I wouldn’t mind in my room but whether I can pull it off or not god knows. There was a new chair delivered to work, so I stole the box. Thought it was too awesome to pass up on. It kinda just lay around the room until I decided to turn in into a rather swank cupboard courtesy of a knife

Jen came back up the week after Maritime for our 1 year anniversary (A paper anniversary I’m led to believe by Andrew from the post office) We couldn’t do much on the Saturday because I was working but I made up for it later in the week by suprising her with tickets to go to Blackpool which we promptly got stranded in as I’d misread my train times. Thankfully Rowan still lives there so we managed to sponge a bed for the night. We did the usual Blackpool thing: Blackpool Tower, Sea Life, The Pleasure Beach. Unusually the illuminations were still up but obviously not turned on. You can buy bucket and spades of chips in Blackpool now which was fairly class. Oh and we went to see Shrek 3 while we were there and found a Simpsons diorama that we had to sit with. Then the day before she went home we’d bought a couple of cheap mannequins and painted them in our image, as one does

Been experimenting with fruit too. Jen’s been at me to try mango and we found something called a dragon fruit which looks like some sort of alien egg. Mangos not as amazing as I thought it would be, and the dragon fruit was a bit tasteless, don’t know if I was doing something wrong :( Looked awesome though

retrojaffa had some downtime while I was offline, payments hadn’t been going through so I’ll have to look into that but it should be fixed now. Me and Simon’s 360′s are both online now and we’ve made our gang on Saints Row, #20. We’re shit, we’ve only won one game but our opponents were god awful. Then we whinged all night about getting our arses handed to us on a plate and another gang who exploited their way to victory on a Blinged Out Ride match

You know, theres probably more I can’t think of. But writing all this has taken so long anyhow :( I want to go do somethign different. And have a bath. So I’m back anyhow, I’ve got some plans for adjusting the site but again they probably won’t get done

Oh and Pirates of the Burning Sea, I don’t think I’ve wrote about it before. Image World of Warcraft, but with pirates. A massively multiplayer online roleplaying game (MMORPG). Ahh yeah, I’ve bought a fair pile of games but I can’t be arsed going into them all as most don’t actually work. Time for the first picture in a long time too :o
