I really am, I’ve been back from America for what, about 3 weeks and I haven’t wrote anything. Needless to say I’ve made the work I need to write about on here that bit harder so I’ll be breaking it up into littler posts while I catch up
Firstly… America
We had a laugh at the hotel (Thats Simon under every piece of furniture in the hotel room that I could move) the night before we flew and after all my moaning, it wasn’t that bad. In fact I’d go as far to say it was pretty class. Okay the first day of getting there and everything after we touched down in the US of A was shit and first mate stressful. Having just acquired our car for the holiday (the car not being the one we were told we’d be getting, they’d hired it to someone else) we went to find our apartment/ house thing or whatever its properly classed as (Not even Domino’s Pizza could tell me what it was) so after we’ve looped the freeways and interstate a couple of times until we’ve finally learned where we’re going or at least should be heading (All the time my Nan finding it great to point out that we’ve passed that same bit of road 4 times now, and “why are we going back to the airport?”) On the note of coming back to the airport as well, as we did for the 3rd time I think it was, Dad somehow managed to turn on the parking brake as we were driving along. Having not been in one of their cars much we didn’t have a fucking clue which button did what. So I’m stuck with Nan in the back whinging about something, Simon and Dad are pressing all manner of buttons and levers in the drivers side footwell in the hope of turning it off and in the meantime we’re motionless in the middle of a big road outside the airport
When we eventually got it moving again, about 10 minutes later Simon realises the bonnet of the car is flapping a bit. They’d pressed the button to release it when they’d been fannying around. Simon then went on to point out how it could write off the car was it to fall off its latch. Thus followed about 10 minutes of slow driving hoping this thing wasn’t gonna wreck the car before we’d even really gone anywhere until we could pull over and fix it by the side of a road (Something I must add the guide to America we got told us not to do)
Other than that, we did the thing everyone does when they go over the pond, we ate cheap all you can eat foods, had steak on a near nightly basis and went to Disney. I don’t see the big thing about Disney, there were a few good things but nothing to justify the whole “omfg” thing everyone does, but then again I am 21. Although Epcot was alright, and although Simon disagrees my robot was the best out of the 2, he may have won the robot race but I got 3rd and I the 3rd prettiest robot where as his was some ugly red thing. Unfortunatly the only picture I got was proper blurry, but this, ladies and gents, is the fabled Crazylegs Masher
We went to visit Gatorland, which I thought would be shit but turned out to be alright, then I got ate by a Lorikeet (video to follow when I sort it out)
And I’ve got to say right now, Kennedy Space Center is so dull. I was expecting it to be proper awesome. I enjoyed Sellafield (When it wasn’t so shit) more
There was this whole “Astronaut X” thing they were doing where you could go through some training machines and fly a simulator for an extra $60 but I didn’t want to suggest it to everyone else who clearly wouldn’t have gave a shit. Oh and we spotted this on the controls of one of the shuttles you could walk inside of
On the note of simulators and Disney, Disney Quest was a part of Disney full of arcades (Arguably one of my favourite parts of America) half of which although broken (As in my experience of arcades they always are anyhow) I never realised Sega made flight simulators
Oh and Simon won a poker tournament he wasn’t old enough to win so had to forfeit his title, regardless he won’t let me live it down
So in the final days you’ve got to spend your last few dollar, minus the ones I saved to stick to my wall. Again being so lazy they still aren’t up there. So I bought myself a few t-shirts, pretty much all gaming ones which I don’t know how highly I should be proud of but I like them so I don’t really care tbh ^_^ Got myself a couple of ninja badges and an emoticon badge which I had to get for comedy value. What else did I buy? Oh yeah, Mr DS Lite is multi-region so I bought myself a couple of games for the flight home that won’t be released over here until next month I think it is. So I’m halfway through Phoenix Wright: Justice For All and I’m pretty sick of Harvest Moon DS already after some rain destroyed my chicken coop and killed my only chicken I’d been saving for for a month. Soon after buying these we set off for the airport after our car had got itself a flat tyre, so we pretty much got to the airport on a buggy wheel it looked like :E
After we landed back home, and me bollocking my Nan and Dad for not letting Simon sleep, and no he hadn’t passed out from landing he just hadn’t slept for the 9 hour flight we got back to find our suitcases wern’t at the airport, in fact a few peoples weren’t. In fact they hadn’t left Florida. You see, just before we arrived in America, in fact the day before, there was a tornado not too far from Orlando and there was an ice storm raging to the North at Philadelphia and New York. So we’d been rushed through Orlando onto the Philly flight else we’d have been severely delayed and in the process they forgot our bags
On a plus note, my swords I’d ordered back at new year finally arrived while I was away. And earlier this week the buster sword finally arrived so I can quit whinging about that now. I’ll get pictures up as soon as I can sort my phone out on my new putay and I’ll make a sword related post
Indeed \o/ A new putay! 20″ widescreen monitay, dolby 7.1 (Overkill if anyones ever seen my room) and lots of other stuff including Vista, its very pretty but its an arse with some of my games and won’t run them atm :/ Bit gutted about that. Especially seen as I just got a German game that I’ve been looking forward to for ages: Emergency 4, the earlier games were fairly class but this is all full 3D
Some wide eyed folk might have noticed that if they leave the mouse over the links on retrojaffa something new is happening. This is called Snap, its like thumbnails of the internet, so you can see what your going to when you click a link, plus if its a link to the picture it saves you clicking in the first place
Its quite swank
Update #1: Added pictures and comments to the Shadow gallery, and added a new gallery for Purple Bear
Update #2: Its come to my attention that the new gallery doesn’t seem to want to work on Internet Explorer, and that Snap wants to create a preview of my menu at the top of the site if you hold your pointer over it in IE too. I’ll look into whats breaking the link for the gallery, as for the Snap preview theres code I can add but I shouldn’t have to, the whole point of Flash is its integrated into websites :E On a happier note, now would be the time to plug just how awesome Mozilla’s Firefox is and how given the option, I’d much prefer to eradicate IE from my computer in replacement of this
