The Big Brother Auditions?

Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007

I’ve signed an NDA so basically I can’t say anything other than this picture. What I can tell you is its fucking hard trying to explain what retrojaffa is to a group of 10 people who seem to think its a grafitti website and don’t understand what a blog is :E

I’ve also updated my playdoh me

Life Update \o/

Phoenix Wright got finished, albeit a few days later than I had imagined. Trial 5 went on forever, in fact I was playing it to 4 in the morning on one occasion cos I thought I was close to finishing it and couldn’t wait :E Now I’m a bit lost on the gaming side of life

I bought Warioware: Smooth Moves and I’m a bit disappointed in it. Its a good game, but multiplayer only involves 1 controller for some reason. Seems a bit backwards to me and it encourages you to not wear the wrist strap as you have to pass the controller around really fast. Multiplayer drawbacks aside its a decent game I guess full of your usual sillyness and randomness. One of my favourite mini games involving picking up the wiimote to simulate picking up a phone. Makes me smile everytime

I’ve also forked out a mere £5 for a game I’m slowly getting into. Soldat is very arcadey, a fast 2D shooter where the basic premise is just to shoot the fuck out of everyone else and can get fairly hectic. Theres other play modes but I haven’t really experiemented with them. Mainly due to the AI being a bit captain turdular and there not being an awful lot of variety in the gamemodes on servers online. I’d recommend people downloading the unregistered game (Shareware so they haven’t gimped anything other than a few features only people who want to pay for can get) and giving it a try

Plus the game has a /piss command. As well as an option to take your hat off :o Maybe its only me that finds pointless commands like that a great addition to a game

Animal Crossing is boring me already, in fact I’ve just remembered I had a dream about it last night. That Samurai Sword I saw in Redd’s blackmarket was being sold for cheap in Tom Nooks shop. Obviously it wasn’t real which sucks, but it was still fairly expensive. But yeah, its dragging a bit now. I only play it for about half an hour a day on my bus rides into work and anywhere

On the note of the DS I bought me a DS Lite which is so much better than the original DS. The only thing that annoys me is the Advance games poke out the bottom so I can no longer carry around Harvest Moon in it which bugs the shit out of me :(

Erm, real world news… I’m searching for a new job. I’ve had it with Ladbrokes, sick to death of punters giving me shit for no good reason and my good will being taken advantage of by the higher ups. Gamestation isn’t an option I can wait around on so I need something else until something would come up there. I’m contemplating going down the college or university track again and getting back into my gaming I wanted to do. Need to send a few emails about finding out what I need. So expect a uni discussion soon Haly :p

Looks like my CV reworking will come in handy after all then. Its very pretty and gots purple in it :o

Benny: Actual Attourney

Saturday, January 6th, 2007

\o/ Another defendant walks free from an amazing case where they looked sure to go down as guilty. Well they would have done, had I not been fighting their case

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attourney sees you taking on the character of Phoenix Wright, an attourney just out of Law school and taking on his first case (For some reason a murder case, an awfully brave thing to do I’d have thought tbh) Now I’m hooked, depressingly I know theres only 5 cases, and I’m just starting case 4 after I’ve started up Animal Crossing again (Another post in itself to follow probably tomorrow)

Now I know the average game doesn’t last me much more than a week these days before its completed and this is no exception, I’ve nearly finished it and I’ve only had it just over 24 hours. I’ve clocked up maybe, what… 11 hours gametime? Not bad considering I’ve been to work for an 8 hour shift as well (I spent 2 hours of worktime on case 3 switching between capturing bets and then gathering evidence) so I reckon given another 24 hours I’ll have this game done and dusted

Regardless of all this, its lasted me longer than Gears of War (A mere 9 hours, although yet to start it on Hardcore difficulty let alone complete it) which is a lot to say for a game that can at times seem like its just throwing u along the story without you coming up with any conclusions yourself

The trials are hard. You sit there working through a witness’s testimony looking for something wrong with it, 15 to 20 minutes you could be staring at it and seeing nothing. Then something clicks in your head and you try it. The music goes quiet, then suddenly that music kicks in (starts @ 1:56) and its such a buzz and suddenly you start attournilly kicking the shit outta this witness (Teenage children are also not spared this wrath) Hearing that music is as awesome the 50th time you hear it from the 1st time. Its like the music of accomplishment, like the victory tune from Final Fantasy 7 (Which would bring me onto another future post… )

Right, I’m going to go get a cup of tea and move myself into Animal Crossing and see whose still awake at this time. Then I’ll start case 4 “Turnaround Goodbye”
